Recently, The Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (M-ADN) made a donation to establish an endowed scholarship for a nursing student at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
Linda
Suttle, executive director of M-OADN, presented a check for $1,000 to establish the Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing Endowed Scholarship fund. When the fund reaches $5,000, the Northwest Foundation will add matching funds in order to fully endow the scholarship.
M-OADN, organized in 1986, is a state organization primarily interested in working to retain the Registered Nurse title and scope of practice for the associate degree nurse. The organization promotes the idea that associate degree nursing offers an affordable opportunity for men and women to enter the nursing profession as a registered nurse. Its members work with nurses who desire to transition from Associate Degree Nursing to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Once the scholarship is endowed, the Nursing Division will select a nursing student as the recipient of the scholarship. Nursing Division Director Ellen Williams, who is scheduled to make a presentation at this year's M-OADN conference, is delighted to be the recipient of these funds. "Because of the financial demands and time constraints of the nursing program, scholarship assistance is a tremendous benefit to our students," said Williams.
We are deeply grateful for the M-OADN's generosity and for all of the work they do on behalf of the Associate Degree Nursing program," Williams said.
