Northwest awarded funds for Foundation Scholarship

Cynthia Wilkerson, vice president of R. R. Donnelley, Senatobia Division, recently presented a check in the amount of $500 to Sybil Canon, director of the Northwest Mississippi Community College Foundation, to fund the R. R. Donnelley Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year. Because of endowment losses in 2008, scholarship sponsors were asked to provide extra funds in order to award scholarships, according to Canon. R. R. Donnelley is one of more than 100 scholarship sponsors who participated in the “second-mile” giving project.

“We are pleased to provide this extra assistance to a Northwest student,” said Wilkerson. The NWCC Foundation will award approximately $200,000 in scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year.
